New weir lock on the Dender

Soetaert is the main contractor for the construction of a new lock in a river-bend cut-off of the Dender, about a kilometre upstream from the current weir lock. The renovation of the locks is important for water management purposes and to ensure the long-term continuation of the current goods transport and recreational shipping.

The construction was realised in several stages. The first stage included the construction of a double weir and lock construction on the right bank of the Dender as well as a new bank protection. In the second stage, which is executed almost simultaneously, the necessary renovation works on the left and right bank are executed.

In short, it really is a large-scale project!
